Starting 2026-08-02, PicTools adds a batch compression workflow that selects optimal quality settings based on the output format. JPEG files default to quality 82 for listing photos and quality 90 for hero images. WebP output uses quality 78 with automatic fallback to JPEG when the result is larger. AVIF targets quality 72 for maximum savings on supported platforms. The engine processes up to 500 files per batch and reports individual compression ratios.
